How to reach the conference

The conference will take place at the Jacques MONOD site in the “ENS de Lyon”, which is located 46 Allée d’Italie, between the Place des Pavillons and the Halle Tony Garnier exhibition centre Access.

It can be easily reached with public transportation or by city bike. The public transport system in Lyon – Transport en Commun Lyonnais, TCL, http://www.tcl.fr/en – is very reliable and fairly cheap. It is by far the easiest way to reach any place of interest in the city.

From Lyon-Saint-Exupéry airport,

  • By public transportation: take the Rhônexpress shuttle to the Part-Dieu railway station, then take the metro (Line B) to Gare d’Oullins and stop at the Debourg station. Then you can walk (7mn) to the Jacques MONOD site of the “ENS de Lyon” or you can take the Tram (Line T1) to IUT Feyssine and stop at the ENS Lyon station.
  • By regular taxi (no proxair available), you may expect a travel fare from Saint-Exupery airport to downtown Lyon around 50 euros by day, and up to 70 euros by night. Taxis accept credit card if the corresponding logo is pasted in the car.

Note that a few events will take place at the René DESCARTES site of the “ENS de Lyon”, which is located 15 Parvis René Descartes.

Please use the following map to find your way around the campus:

Accommodation in Lyon

If you want your hotel to be really close (walking distance) to the conference site, here is a list of hotels you can stay at:

A bit further (20mn walk):

However, it may be a better option to stay in the city centre of Lyon, called the Presqu’île, namely in-between the two rivers, around “La Place Bellecour” https://en.lyon-france.com/Lyon-Metropole-and-the-region/The-districts-of-Lyon/The-Presqu-ile . It is very well-connected to the conference site by metro or tram.

We suggest you use the booking service offered by the city of Lyon to find the hotel that suits you best: http://events.lyon-france.com/en/Press-Professional/Business-Tourism/Destination-Lyon

If you want a cheaper but comfortable option still, you can consider one of these two places:

For French participants who belong to a CNRS Research unit, please check the list of hotels which have a specific agreement with your institution.

There is a "duck game" on this website. Go through the different pages, and try to distinguish between the pictures from Saint-Etienne and the pictures from Lyon. Found them? Indeed the conference took place in Lyon, and resulted from a profound collaboration between Lyon and Saint-Etienne.
